Hawkshead

Hawshead a picturesque 28 miles drive, you will meander through stunning villages with stunning views of the Lake District, it will take around 58 minutes. Hawkshead is small market town with small pedestrian streets made up of cute houses houses, archways and squares beloved by Williams Wordworth and Beatrix Potter

Activities

Thrill seekers looking to get the blood pumping look no further, a ten-minute drive from Hawskhead town centre in Grizdale Forest you will find Go Ape, with a number of activities on offer. The tree top adventure is a 2-3-hour rope course with rope swings and zip wires, a fun way to see the forest.

Always wanted to fly then the Zip wire trekking adventure is for you, start with a 4×4 ride uphill then fly 3km through seven forest zip lines, wizz passed the top of the Douglas fir trees with the forest far below, what a fantastic way to get some fresh Cambrian air.

If you are looking for something more grounding then join the Forest Segway, an hour-long Segway safari through the Grizdale Forest. Early booking is advised for all activities

Beatrix Potter
No better way to spend so time with the family than discovering Hill Top Beatrix Potter’s home which was used as inspiration for many of her famous children’s tales. The house is full of her favourite items, discover the gardens that that inspired the tales of Peter Rabbits.

Relax, Unwind

Take in 360-degree views of the Lake District with a 5km circular walk to the Latterbarrow Monument, It is the subject of a chapter of Wainwright’s book The Outlying Fells of Lakeland. The walk is described a circular walk needing little effort yet wielding much delight.

Their aim is the Fuel Lakeland adventures and they certainly do that, on the ground floor is a café offering small plates, flatbreads and fellpots is perfect for those looking for a quick and tasty lunch, with an informal relaxed setting, when the cold weather hits the cosy fires and sweet treats make it hard to leave.

The Pencil Museum
Home to the world’s first pencil, you enter through a replica graphite mine which would have served as the source of the pencil industry. The Museum gives you the history of pencil of the centuries, also home to one of the world’s largest coloured pencils measuring almost 8 metres. Bowness-on-Windermere

One of the tourist hot spots, on the shores of Windermere, this is the perfect location from shopping and discovering the area. A 28 mile drive through the best views the Lake District has to offer, stop along the way and discover some of the smaller towns and villages, it will take around 50 minutes.
