Wray Castle – Ambleside
Arrive in style, board a regular lake cruise from Ambleside, this will take you directly to the new castle jetty. This National Trust Castle is informal and child friendly with Peter Rabbit creative play with Mr McGregor’s Garden and Peter’s burrow for the younger children, for the older visitors dressing up in period costumes, build your own castle, enjoy the outdoor play area with rope swing, scramble boars and den building area. Lakeland Maze and Farm Park
A great family day out for all ages, find your way round one of the UK’s best Maize Maze’s open from July- September, the farm park and play areas are open from April till the school holidays in October, Raines Hall is a working farm, so you can see and feed cows, sheep, pigs, ferrets, llamas, alpacas, pigmy and angora goats and horses, and everyone’s favourite Winston the donkey.

Grizedale Forest – Go Ape
Looking for a family activity day then head to Grizdale Forest you will find all kinds of outdoor activities, from walking trails, mountain bike trails or Go Ape with all kinds of arial activities.
The tree top adventure is a 2-3-hour rope course with rope swings and zip wires, a fun way to see the forest. always wanted to fly then the Zip wire trekking adventure is for you, start with a 4×4 ride uphill then fly 3km through seven forest zip lines, wiz passed the top of the Douglas fir trees with the forest far below, what a fantastic way to get some fresh Cambrian air.
If you are looking for something more grounding then join the Forest Segway, an hour-long Segway safari through the Grizdale Forest.

Lakes Aquarium
Discover the diverse marine life that lives in the Lake District with the underwater tunnels. Lakeland Motor Museum
The Lakeland Motor Museum has a collection of 30,000 exhibits which trace the history of road. Transport throughout the twentieth century. Boasting collections to include the oldest surviving TVR, the vintage Ford Capri, Campbell Bluebird complete with replicas, a tribute to the Isle of Man TT race a vast selection of vintage motorcycles, scooters, bicycles and pedal cars. The Children’s quiz is a great way to ensure they interact and see all the exhibits in the challenge to find the 23 clues which are located around the museum.
